Question
What Usually Makes a Car Cost More to Detail?
Answer from Prime Shine Mobile Detailing
The most common factors that increase the cost and time of a detail are pet hair, hardened dirt, and sand trapped deep in the carpet. In Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach especially, sand from the beach is one of the biggest challenges we face. Sand works its way deep into carpet fibers and seat cushions, and removing it properly can take hours of careful vacuuming and agitation.
Pet hair is another major time consumer. It weaves itself into fabric seats and carpet in a way that a standard vacuum simply cannot remove. We use specialized tools and techniques to extract pet hair thoroughly, but it significantly adds to the time required for a detail.
Hardened dirt and grime — especially in door jambs, vents, and crevices — also adds time. During a full detail, we focus heavily on even the smallest areas because those details make the biggest difference in the final result. A vehicle that has gone years without a proper detail will naturally cost more than one that receives regular maintenance details.
